Videogames
I don't know why, but something or someone finally got me to write about video games. Maybe I'm writing because I like them, maybe its to spite someone, or maybe its both. Anyways... I think that video games are great for several reasons! They are really diverse and expansive, making them easy to write about right before a blog post deadline due. However, they also kind of breed a plague in people, something that makes them unnaturally hostile and unwilling to admit to their mistakes. This is what one would call toxicity and it exists in all skill levels of gamers, and if this still doesn't make sense let me explain in layman terms what toxicity is. So, imagine you're playing Marioparty (or a board game) and someone decides it would be funny to mess with you in game by making your character fall into trouble or steal a star (ya know, something mischievous). Instead of laughing it off toxicity will plague your mind and make you either a passive aggressive jerk or just flat out yell at your friends. Of course, with being a jerk or some words that the grader of these posts wouldn't advocates, comes at a cost. No one likes you.
Its honestly a sad reality when you find out your toxic, not only are you just bad at games, people just tend to avoid you (or at least I honestly will). I don't need to be told when to engage, when my adc is out of place, the bush is warded, and furthermore you're just not gonna follow up; I'm just not gonna listen to your calls when you don't have a good understanding-
of the current situation due to your frustration, BOI, this why I hesitating cause you baiting, with lack yo lack of game sense and poor choice making SKIRT yo, don't ping ping me ???? yo missed skill shots all I see as you q-q-queue up, whiff and taste DEFEAT.
(This rap sounded better in my head, but if you think about it leaving words on the page will stretch out your post, therefore making it meet the minimum requirement.)
Speaking of video games, I also got a switch and that's pretty fun! I play Mariokart with anyone who asks or is willing to respect the gaming console, however I feel like people with larger hands are at a disadvantage due to the controllers being very small. I fear for my $300+ investment that someone with more masculine, rougher hands and a grip strength of a 1 ton gorilla will break my hopes and dreams in half, but hey I got the warranty so, dab on the haters. EXCEPT DOn'T DaB On HiM/HeR ThOsE ControlLerS ArE InDestruABlE, HE/SHE Will DecK YoU.
Moral of the story: toxicity is bad, learn when to dab, and with video games there's lots of fun to be to be had.
(This post was a roller coaster, but not a good one, or not a bad one that you get hurt in... So, like imagine a roller coaster that was really fast and bumpy but not fun cause someone who smelled really sweaty was sitting next to you because your friends bailed on you and you had to be a single rider, I feel like that's this post, but idk, let me know what you think in the comments below😅)

Sometimes it's okay for your post to be a rough roller coaster, I've had those before. Also, about the toxicity, that makes sense. In the context of online gaming, it makes sense to be bothered by and even avoid people who are going to make the game less fun (like the smelly guy on the roller coaster). I think a little bit of cleaning might be useful on this post, but stream-of consciousness writing can be cool sometimes.
ReplyDeleteI really like this post it sounds casual, interesting, yet informative. I agree that video games sort of create this toxicity whether people notice or not. Just 2 days ago my mom and I were driving back from vacation and we had some tire problems so we had to take it to Walmart and wait 30 minutes so I went and played the switch and it was awesome! I have wanted to buy it but since I leave for college next year I didn't think it was a worth investment, but it looks super cool.
ReplyDeleteI liked this post, your rap made me laugh, and yes, dab on the haters. I like the theme of toxicity because I think it's true. I'm not really a gamer, but I have played video games before, and it definitely can get extremely and unnecessarily frustrating. It's important to realize that what we're doing is playing a game, and that's all it is. That said, I'm not a huge gamer but I have a huge appreciation for all the Mario games, and I have gotten into playing this game called "Little Nightmares." It's a really beautiful, dark game, I highly recommend. Super suspenseful and awesome ambience.
